down by the riverbed,
sand waves
shuffle under our heels.
we wander
naked and blind.
no seeing,
no perceiving,
no apprehending.
yet i can still feel
the murmurs of fish
vibrate through the reeds.
a strange sensation,
coloured in ochre and nightshade,
soon wraps around us.
tiny mouths,
searching for sunlight to feed on,
race past in thousands.
somewhere upstream,
the water grows warm.
…
out of the gloom,
springs a flesh cocoon.
ochre and nightshade
me and you
31st july 2026.
